Legacy Systems
Our suite of tools and processes allow us to create web-based, state-of-the-art user interfaces to
existing operational or legacy database applications. The resulting integrated system performs as
a completely new application, and yet is a fraction of the cost of a replacement system.
The type of technical problems people are likely to experience with legacy data are: -
- Data quality challenges
- Database design problems
- Data architecture problems
- Process-related challenges
Many clients have existing legacy systems that require upgrading. They have often been developed
using Microsoft Access/Excel or may run on Unix servers. These systems may contain crucial data
such as contacts or sales figures. Upgrading these systems is often put off until the last minute
as an upgrade can be difficult to justify on cost grounds or simply because the system is in
constant use. In addition, if the system is old then the original developer may not be available
and changes to the system are therefore difficult.
Read what one of customers says about Arepo's legacy upgrade services.
"We had been struggling to replace our bespoke debt recovery, prosecution, appeals processing
database for some years. We had experienced failed off-shore development Companies and many
broken promises but then AREPO stepped in and Rapid Application Development came to life. Their
skills in assessing Client needs, offering added value solutions, and delivering on time and to
budget have been amazing. The flexibility and scalability of their platform has not restrained any
of my wishes from coming true. We now have a database fit for purpose and fully supported...and
our next project in partnership with AREPO is about to begin."
Bob Taylor (General Manager) - RPSS, IPFAS and Prosecutions
Arepo has much experience in upgrading such systems. We can develop a replacement bespoke solution
that will incorporate all the data from your existing system. Also, we can often suggest
improvements and changes that have probably been long overdue in your existing legacy system.
