Meteor Parking, a leader in the UK car park industry, required an online e-commerce solution to sell permits and other tickets at train station car parks.
Following numerous database driven solutions provided to Meteor, including public web sites with ecommerce and content management, back office administration sites and PDA software, Arepo were asked to develop the Meteor Permits database. This sophisticated multi- train operating company solution now involves integration with many data sources.
The main customer website, www.meteor-permits.com, includes a register and login facility, enabling customers to select their products and make a payment. A handful of train operating company specific websites have also been built which integrate with this on-line pre-booking service. E-tickets and permits are available in a mixture of hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, six monthly and annual tickets - specific to each train operating company and the station.
Customer booking confirmations and receipts are sent via email, and email reminders are sent out to customers as their permits are due to expire. A first-come-first-served car park waiting list facility is provided when the car park is full.
Customer services logins allow for payments to be taken over the phone, and also e-tickets can be purchased by customers directly using an automated mobile phone service.
A back office administration site provides full access to staff to the database, and a suite of management reports. Cars are identified using automatic number plate recognition, and PDA software is used by attendants to enable them to issue parking charge notices.
This solution continues to support Meteor's business and we continue to support the various programs and applications developed.
